Megan started her journey within the healthcare industry working as a medical biller and attending  school to become a psychiatric nurse. In 2005 Megan had gastric bypass surgery that unfortunately led to complications. After years of surgical revisions Megan had to leave school and overcome opioid addiction resulting from the myriad of medications prescribed
Megan also experienced PTSD from surgical trauma.
In 2017 Megan began her long and rewarding recovery journey. Her passion for Peer Support started when she became involved on a state level with the Oxford sober home while she and her daughters were living during this time. During her years with Oxford, she attended leadership summits and traveled to Washington D.C. to talk about the need for support to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. Also during this time Megan attended school to obtain her PWS/CRM (Peer Specialist certification)  through Mental Health Addiction Association of Oregon.

Armed with education and her credentials Megan has had the opportunity to work as a peer support specialist and help others using her lived experience. Megan has a strong passion for her recovery and is very involved in the recovery community. Megan gives back to her community by making sure everyone feels included and that their recovery matters, they matter. Megan has founded “westside recovers” a social forum for local residents to access recovery related resources and support. She also founded “Melodic Visionaries 4 Global Awareness” a yearly event that brings talented artists and community partners together to bring awareness to the mental health and recovery community.
